In Reality, Tour Packages are too costly if not traveling by a large group. So I recommend to Do-It-Yourself coz you will still enjoy Islas de Gigantes the way the Tour Package Promised.

HOW TO GET THERE:

ILOILO CITY TO BANCAL OR ESTANCIA

From Tagbak Terminal; Takes 3-4 hours land travel and fare ranges 150-above by Ceres Bus or Commuter Van. Rate is about Php. 75.

ROXAS CITY TO BANCAL OR ESTANCIA

From Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal; Transportation Costs from 80 or above for 2-3 hours land travel via commuter van.

BORACAY OR KALIBO TO BANCAL/ESTANCIA

No Direct Transfer and still need to drop to Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal

MANILA TO BANCAL/ESTANCIA

The closest one will be Roxas City Airport but frequent flights are in Iloilo International Airport, Kalibo International Airport and Caticlan Boracay Airport. Sea Travel is possible through RO-RO via Caticlan.

FROM ANY POINT OF PANAY (LIKE ILOILO, ROXAS AND BORACAY) JUST TAKE A LAND TRAVEL UNTIL YOU REACH:

  • BANCAL PORT VIA COMMUTER BOAT

First option and recommended is the Bancal Port in Carles in Northern Iloilo – takes 1.5 hours of travel up to Langub Beach in Gigantes Norte.

Note: Boat departs 10AM daily in Bancal Port and the same boat going back is by
2PM the same day.

  • ESTANCIA PORT VIA COMMUTER BOAT

Second and the much popular is the Estancia Port in Estancia, Iloilo – takes up to 2 hours of travel up to Gigantes Sur or GigantesNorte.

Note: Boat Schedule going to the island is only 1PM daily and 8AM the next morning when going back.

(We selected this Route and pay 75 pesos for 2 hours boat ride.)

  • ANY OF THE TWO VIA CHARTERED BOAT

Negotiable Price depends on your stay in Gigantes Islands.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO:

1. ISLAND HOPPING – A MANDATORY EXPENSE TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE TOURIST ATTRACTION OF GIGANTES. THE PRICE RANGE FROM 1,500 OR ABOVE DEPENDS ON THE JOINERS.

2. GIGANTES SUR – ASIDE FROM ITS WHITE BEACHES, GIGANTES SUR IS A FAVORITE PLACE OF THRILL-SEEKER. YOU CAN GO ROCK SCRAMBLING UNTIL YOU REACH THE LIMESTONE CLIFF CALLED “BOULEVARD VIEW POINT” WHICH IS COMPARABLE TO WHAT IS IN PALAWAN.

3. GIGANTES NORTE – THE OTHER HALF OF GIGANTES SUR AS TWO OF THE LARGEST ISLANDS IN GIGANTES AND HOME OF THE FAMOUS LIGHTHOUSE OF CARLES. THE TOUR COSTS 60 PESOS FOR A ROUNDTRIP MOTORCYCLE TRANSFER. (RESORTS ARE BOTH LOCATED IN GIGANTES SUR AND GIGANTES NORTE).

4. TANGKE SALTWATER LAGOON – THE MOST MESMERIZING SPOT IN GIGANTES WHICH WALLED BY LIMESTONE FORMATIONS AND FEED BY SALT WATER. THERE IS A NEW REGULATION PASSED IN JUNE 2016 THAT ENVIRONMENTAL FEE WORTH PHP. 75 AND ENTRANCE FEE OF PHP. 25 WILL BE CHARGED TO TOURISTS. RESEARCH THE LATEST UPDATE REGARDING TO THIS SITE DUE TO SOMETIMES, IT IS BEING CLOSED FOR REHABILITATION/ NATURAL CLEANING.

5. CABUGAO GAMAY ISLAND – CONSIDERED AS THE MOST PHOTOGRAPHED. ENTRANCE FEE IS PHP. 50

6. BANTIGUE ISLAND – IS WHERE THE PERFECT SANDBAR DURING LOW TIDE IS LOCATED. NO ENTRANCE FEE IN THE SANDBAR ITSELF BUT DURING MY FRIEND’S VISIT THEY WERE CHARGED 500 PESOS PER HEAD, SO BE CAREFUL.

7. ANTONIA ISLAND AND ISLA PUTING BAYBAY (MINI BORACAY) – A SNORKELING AND SWIMMING PARADISE. TENTS ARE USUALLY VISIBLE IN THE AREA. ENTRANCE FEE FOR VISITOR IS PHP. 50 WITH OTHER CHARGE FOR TENT AND COTTAGE RENTALS.

8. BAKWITAN CAVE (GIGANTES NORTE) – AN ANOTHER ATTRACTION THAT MUST BE VISITED. JUST ASK THE BOATMAN TO INCLUDE THIS TO YOUR ISLAND HOPPING.

9. PAWIKAN CAVE (GIGANTES SUR) – SOMETIMES MISTAKENLY THE OTHER NAME OF BAKWITAN CAVE BUT IT IS NOT. TOUR GUIDE FEE IS 50 PESOS PER HEAD.

10. FOOD – BUDGET IS NOT A PROBLEM BECAUSE SEA FOODS HAVE LOWER PRICE (NAME YOUR CHOICE AND KIND OF COOKING) WITHOUT SACRIFICING THE QUANTITY AND TASTE.

11. OVERNIGHT STAYING – NO WORRIES BECAUSE GIGANTES NORTE AND GIGANTES SUR ARE LINED WITH RESORTS FROM COTTAGES TO FAN ROOMS, PLUS OTHERS HAVE AIR-CONDITIONED ROOMS.
